Pembroke Meadows Civic League
Special Called Business Meeting
Sunday, November 5, 2006
The meeting was called to order by President Donald Sanders at 4:00
p.m.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and vote on a proposal by
T-Mobile Corp. to install a cell phone tower at the Pembroke Meadows Recreation
Center (pool). Negotiations have been ongoing with T-Mobile since
early June. The members of the Pembroke Meadows negotiating team
were: Donald Sanders, PMCL President, James Hall, PMCL Treasurer, Earl
Lee, PMRC board member, and Bob Berry, PMRC board member. Also at
this meeting was John Hitch, T-Mobile site representative and Eric Swanson,
T-Mobile RF engineer.
The scope of the contract was explained to the civic league members
along with the financial aspects of the property lease.
Many questions were asked. The major concern of several members
was the potential health and safety issues relating to the emissions from
the tower. The T-Mobile representatives explained that we are within
federal guidelines for tower emissions. In fact, this tower would
only emit less than 1% of the federal guidelines.
At the conclusion of the discussion, Jim Price made a motion to contract
with T-Mobile to lease the property to T-Mobile for construction of the
cell phone tower. Clif Furedy seconded the motion. The motion passed
with a vote of 51 for, 3 against and 3 abstentions.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
