Preparing for emergencies and dealing with the loss of a loved one can be eased with Planning of our Personal Affairs.  At the time of loss, we are overcome with grief yet many demands, actions and decisions are required of us.  Now is the time to prepare: MOAA, the Navy Mutual Aid Association and other similar groups have assembled various checklists to aid in our preparation.  We have included the following to assist in your planning:

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Veterans will be seen from 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m. Walk-in hours are Mon-Fri from 8:30 to 11:30am. Appointments are seen from 1-3pm Mon-Fri. The office will be CLOSED to the public on the last business day of the month.  A team member is in Suffolk on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Suffolk Workforce Center, but Suffolk veterans can come to the Chesapeake office when it is open.

Service Area: The Counties of Southampton, Sussex and Isle of Wight; the Cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach.

Service Area The city of Virginia Beach, NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex and Dam Neck Naval Base. The service location also includes Naval Special Warfare Development Group and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

Portsmouth Benefits Office

This office is located inside the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. An unexpired military identification card is required for access.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Veterans will be seen from 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m by appointment only. The office is CLOSED to the public on the last business day of the month, and the Representative will be at the Churchland Branch Library at 4934 High Street, West on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm.  For more information, call the numbers listed above.
