The HRCMOAA joined Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf, Rudy Boesch, local military dignitaries and the Neptune Festival Committee for the Virginia Beach America Supports You: Freedom Walk held Monday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Neptune’s Park at 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue.   

The walk was a commemorative event about remembrance, reflection, recommitment and respect.  All citizens were asked to participate in the walk as a sign of support for the courageous men and women who defend and serve our country, and for all those affected by the tragic events of 09/11.

The opening ceremony of the walk began at 6:30 p.m. at Neptune’s Park at 31st Street. The walk proceeded down the Boardwalk to the Aviation Monument Park at 25th Street and then back to 31st Street for closing remarks and a candlelight vigil.
